BLS Provider Course (BLS for Healthcare Provider)
Course Description
The BLS Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed healthcare professionals.
Course Content:
- Adult, child rescue breathing
- Adult, child CPR/AED – 1 Rescuer
- Adult, child CPR/AED – 2 Rescuer
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Adult, child relief of choking
- Adult, child bag-mask use
- Advanced airway usage
- Infant rescue breathing
- Infant CPR
- Infant relief of choking
- Infant bag-mask use
Course Length:
Approximately 3-4 hours
Intended Audience:
BLS Providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, CNA’s, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel.
Card Type
The American Heart Association BLS Providers Course Completion Card are valid for two years.In the classroom, students engage in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Cards are issued at the conclusion of class.
Written/Skills Exam:
Required for completion card.
Fee
The two year certification is $50, credit card, check or cash is accepted at day of class. Manuals are included with registration fee and provided at class.
